Ikumi Hiruma

Born in Japan in 1982 and graduated from Jyoshibi University of Art and Design in 2004, Ikumi Hiruma is a young ceramist whose experience goes beyond her years, as reflected in her works.

Her credentials include having worked at the Artist Residence Program at ShigarakiCeramic Culutural Park to organizing famed art exhibition, Ori to Tou at Aijima ArtCenter in Chiba to even being a Ceramics Instructor at MinatomiraiCeramic School, Kanagawa.

While some may classify her work as nondescript, the minimalist nature of her collections creates a statement and very easily sets itself apart in terms of aesthetic, design and wearability.

From Mardeu

We at MARDEU love anything different, and anything that dares to be different, and Ikumi Hiruma’s works can easily remain a part of our permanent collection that we’d show off to stylish grandkids when we’re old and wrinkly. Who knows – we may even still be rocking her collection at a ripe old age of 75! Ikumi Hiruma is Kazumi's sister.
