His Fabulous costume jewelry caught the eyes of the world’s most glamorous women for over four decades, including Jackie Onassis, Elizabeth Taylor, Diana Vreeland and Audrey Hepburn. Moreover his pieces are now as sought-after and collectable as precious gems, with vintage pieces selling at Sothebys.

Michigan born Kenneth Jay Lane graduated from Rhode Island school of Design in1954 and moved to New York for a stint as a Vogue art director. This made his appetite for fashion and made him realize that he wanted to design and create the product he saw around him. Shoes were his straight point- he worked on collections for Delman and Christian Dior-and it was whilst working for the latter that he began to embellish shoes with rhinestones and play around with idea for jewelry.

Before long his collections were being snapped up by hot boutiques across Manhattan, as well as royalty and movie stars. he was proving costume jewelry could be as beautiful as “real” thing.

Today his design was wear by Madonna, Sarah Jessica Parker, Nicole Kidman…etc,

As Lane says, “ I like to create jewelry that can be worn any time of the year, by any women. Gramour is all year round.”

As impressive as it is that royalty, celebrities, a Kenneth Jay Lane’s Jewerly, it is not his primary focus. The designer’s creations are inspired with the everyday women in mind.
