Graduated from Kyoto Art junior college, Tomomi Akahori majored in ceramic and continued learning her craft of choice until she graduated ceramic specialist from the same school in 2000.

In 2005, she began honing her craft at the Institute of Ceramic Studio in Shigaraki, Japan and today, the talented Tomomi Akahori is based in Shizuoka in Japan and working with, no doubt - porcelain.

Tomomi Akahori makes very intricate unique ceramic matchboxes which I have never seen before. Each box has been given the outmost attention and hand-painted on with motifs that evokes old style Japanese noir.
