On a personal journey to explore design and clothes in a new light, Grace Tan started the kwodrent series in 2003. She has since developed a unique and progressive array of clothing and fabric sculptures based on the study of rectangles, referenced to material and construction methods. Her strong emphasis on process has led her to number and date each work in each series to form a chronological record of its development.

 
A key-aspect of kwodrent's works is the inter-disciplinary approach she takes to design, blurring the lines between fashion, fine art, and architecture.

kwodrent latest series of work presents meticulously crafted fabric sculptures that translate to numbers on the cartesian coordinate system. Each piece is defined by an equation, creating a dialogue between the organic and intuitive qualities of the design thought process and the geometric properties of the rectangles.
