Accessory designer, Mao Numata was born in Yamaguchi Japan.
After graduating from Tama Art University, she worked in a book store then an art Supply company in Tokyo. When her pieces started featuring in magazines, she decided to be an artist. Hence, tamao – her childhood nick name - was born.
tamao’s works feature silk screen prints, handwork embroidery and are all hand-made. All motifs are original and made exclusively for tamao. The mix of materials such as hand embroidery, leather and semi-precious stones give her pieces elements of fantasy and humor.
